![]() ![]() Vince was described by passengers as being like a robot as he repeatedly stabbed Tim and seemed in a calm state of mind and didn't say anything. The passengers on the bus said prior to that moment there had been no tension and no altercation, Tim had been asleep. One of the passengers believed he stabbed him 50-60 times. Vince had a large hunting knife and was stabbing Tim in the throat and chest over and over again. He put his bag in the overhead compartment and sat next to Tim. They sat together for half an hour until the other passengers saw Vince standing and they heard what was described as a "blood curdling scream." ![]() The passengers described the man as tall, wearing sunglasses and seemed perfectly normal. Tim had been on the bus for nineteen hours at that point. But at some point during the journey, at around 8pm, he moved to the back of the bus and sat beside Tim. The man, forty year old Vince Li, got on the bus a number of stops after Tim, on the last leg of the journey, and had initially sat at the front of the bus. Tim was just in front of the restroom, sitting with his headphones on and leaning against the window trying to sleep when a man walked down the aisle and stood beside him. As the bus traveled past Portage la Prairie, about 70km west of Winnipeg, a lot of the passengers tried to get some sleep as it was getting dark. The Legend of Zorro was on the television on the bus. He exchanged pleasantries with some other people on the bus and then put his headphones on to listen to some music. It was a long journey from Edmonton to Winnipeg and he chose to sit alone at a seat at the back of the bus. That day, the 30th of July, Tim got the bus at midnight. He wasn't materialistic and the things he loved the most were listening to music and his pet iguana Little Timmy. He loved talking to people and hearing about their lives and had many friends. The carnival provided him with some freedom and through the carnival, he had the opportunity to meet many different people each night. He didn't want to be tied to one place and one job for long. He got bored doing different jobs and much preferred to experience and live life instead of just going through the motions. Working at the carnival was the ideal job for Tim at that point in his life. Tim was on his way home to Manitoba after working at a carnival in Alberta. The bus was bound for Winnipeg, Manitoba and the route was along the Yellowhead Highway and through Saskatchewan.
